ALEXANDRA ZOI: ” LA PAROLE & LA LANGUE”
NANCY KRON: GREEK MYTHOLOGY
MATSOPOULOS MILL, TRIKALA, 1-25 JUNE 2011
WHAT THIS EXHIBITION IS ALL ABOUT: This exhibition is the result of the love and passion of two artists who even though they speak a different language and come from two cultures which strongly oppose each other, they connect because of the love they share for art, poetry and Greece!
THE STORY BEHIND THE SCENES: After a poetry festival in Amsterdam, Alexandra Zoi and Nancy Kroon started writing letters without knowing each other yet and soon felt connected by sharing a passion for art,
for Greece and poetry. Even though their work seems to belong to an opposite world (lyric colour harmonies, Kroon and language-related abstractions, Zoi), the passion for Greece, language and art is their meeting point. The idea was born to expose together which resulted in an exhibition in the Mylos Matsopoulou – Trikala from Wednesday 1 – Saturday 25 June 2011.
Nancy Kroon (1966, born in Rotterdam, lives in Delft – the Netherlands) is transforming ancient Greek myths into paintings.
Her paintings show feelings as melancholy, desire, love, struggle. Feelings of which was written a lot by ancient Greek poets.
Alexandra Zoi (1964, born in Patras, Greece, lives in Amsterdam –) is creating images which are networks of interpretations of various language facets; they are registrations of attempt to decode, rediscoveries and
fragmentations of forms or significances. She is a nomad within languages.
Both artists finished a professional art education in the Netherlands and exhibit often in Greece and in The Netherlands.
